Brotherhood Retreat

The Brotherhood Retreat is a regionally based program that allows new initiates to extend their fraternal experience beyond their own chapter/colony. Select upperclassmen serve as small group mentors while a team of alumni volunteers and headquarters staff members lead the large group sessions. Held over a weekend, the program provides our men the unique opportunity to be focused exclusively on Delta Sigma Phi, our ritual and the concept of brotherhood: what it is, what it means to us, what we can do to promote and sustain it, and what can threaten it if not attended to. Interactive discussions, exercises and personal reflection allow participants the opportunity to expand their network of brothers. The ultimate goal of the retreat is to deepen the participants’ understanding of brotherhood so that they can return to their chapters/colonies as better brothers themselves and more capable of building better men among their peers.

Here’s what participants said about the pilot session of the Brotherhood Retreat held in June 2005 in Bloomington, IN.

  • This was my first experience with the national Delta Sigma Phi fraternity and after going through this I can assure you it will not be the last.
  • This is a great program for new initiates. There was so much I learned that I can take back.
  • I enjoyed myself more than I ever imagined. Thanks!
  • This was an overall great learning experience. It was great meeting guys from other chapters and listening to their experiences.
