From growing up a shy kid to now owning his own business, Uri Geva is on the quick path to success.
Coming from a very educated family, Uri was born in Columbus, OH while both parents were working on their Ph.D.’s. His family moved back and forth from Columbus to Tel Aviv, Israel before finally ending up in College Station, TX – home of Texas A & M University and Delta Sig’s Theta Upsilon Chapter.
He chose Texas A & M because he completed college prep courses in high school that would transfer, and the college offered a generous scholarship. Prior to enrolling in A & M, Uri stated he was fairly shy and a self-proclaimed “super geek.” Upon arriving on campus in 1994, he participated in the freshman orientation program. It was there Uri broke out of his shell and began his illustrious student career.
While at A & M, Uri was very involved in several student organizations. He joined the Theta Upsilon Chapter during his junior year because at the time, the chapter was a colony working to meet the Fraternity’s chartering requirements. “Since the fraternity was new, it did not have the negative stereotypes associated with A & M’s established fraternities. I was eager to join and help form the new colony,” Uri noted. He wasted little time getting involved. After joining, he became social chair, served as secretary, and was accepted into Order of Omega honorary fraternity. One piece of his involvement Uri is very proud of was he and a few other members started a philanthropy project in 1996 called Miss Greek A & M, which still exists today on campus. This philanthropy promoted scholarship and leadership, and raised money for a local non-profit organization. His involvement served the chapter and campus well, and he was awarded Greek Man of the Year on campus and Order of the Sphinx from Delta Sigma Phi.
After graduating in 1998, Uri accepted a position with the Economics Department at Texas A & M. While working, Uri also started an advertising agency named UK Advertising, Inc. This start-up company sold TV commercials, radio ads, newspaper ads, and built websites. Soon after UK Advertising, Inc. took off, Uri resigned from the Economics Department to focus on his growing business. This was a big risk because at the time, UK Advertising, Inc. wasn’t generating much revenue. Through businesses growth and development, Uri began to focus more on building websites, especially sports-related websites. Since the focus of the business shifted, the company name needed altering, too. Therefore, Infinity Pro Sports was created and now has over 230 sports organization clients, including Cal Ripken and the U. S. Pro Golf Tour. Uri’s business has been fortunate to receive local recognition. The Aggie 100 ranked Infinity Pro Sports as number 12 of 100, and the Newman 10 ranked the company number one this year compared to a number three ranking the year prior. Newman 10 recognizes the fastest growing business in the Bryan/College Station, TX area. Learn more about Infinity Pro Sports at www.infinityprosports.com.
Uri knows his skills began developing as a young Delta Sig. “The Fraternity helped me tremendously. I learned how to work with different people, and Delta Sig helped me shape my business career beyond any organization I was involved with at A & M,” he stated. Uri also mentioned that his undergraduate days instilled a sense of giving back. In December of 2005, he formed the Infinity Foundation, which purpose is to raise money and sporting tickets for kids to attend athletic events. So far, the foundation has raised over 1,000 tickets with their goal being to raise a total of 3,000 tickets by the end of this year.
Recalling his most fond memory of his undergraduate days, Uri notes two memories. First, he enjoyed speaking in front of each sorority when discussing Miss Greek A & M during their chapter meetings. Second, seeing the colony meet the chartering standards and become an official chapter of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity in the Spring of 2002.
The most influential person and number one person in his life has been his wife, Gali. Uri also recognizes his parents who have always been supportive. They believed in him and his entrepreneurial skills.
Uri’s advice to Delta Sig undergraduates resonates with other successful alumni. “Grades are important, but the activities you do outside the classroom will help you prepare for the real world. I look at resumes frequently, and I want someone who was very involved in college,” he noted.
